Gas Money Bob's Week 14 Bears Preview
Remember before the Bears-Rams NFC Championship game in 1986 when Buddy Ryan said Erik Dickerson would fumble 3 times? Dickerson ended up fumbling twice and the Bears shutout the Rams 24-0 in front of a rowdy Soldiers Field crowd. The wind chill was 26 degrees and we’ll never forget the Wilbur Marshall fumble return for a TD with the snow falling.
At game time tonight the wind chill is going to be 24 frigid degrees. I expect Todd Gurley to fumble twice and for the Bears to dominate the “explosive” Rams offense all night.
All-Time Head to Head:
Yet another team the Bears simply own. The Bears are 53-36 against the Rams including the playoffs. I know this Rams team is decent, but they have yet to play a team with a defense like the Bears. I said it in my tweet this morning Jared Goff sucks in the cold.
Bears should roll to a big victory tonight.
Bear Weather Report:
28 Degrees (feels 24)
Precipitation 5%
Humidity 73%
Wind WNW 3 mph
No snow and barely any wind but the temperature sure as hell is Bear Weather. As stated above that pretty boy Jared Goff can’t play when its this cold. Look for the Bears D to deliver bone shattering hits all night long.
You Bet Your Ass:
Bears -3
Over/Under 51
It is an absolute insult for this Bears team to be a 3 point dog on their own turf. I think they take it personal tonight and will show the world that the Chicago Bears are a contender.
Take the Bears with the points and bet the under. The Bears defense is not going to let the Rams score much. The Offense should have a decent day but with Mitch just coming back he could be a little rusty. I do expect the Defense to get a score though.
Fantasy Start ‘em Sit ‘em:
Start:
Bears D/ST A lot of the so called experts have the Bears D ranked way too low this week. As I have said multiple times already in this weather and against this defense the Rams O will be neutered.
Tarik Cohen He has been a triple threat running, receiving and throwing. I don’t think there is a defense in the league that can stop him. He is a must start in all formats.
Anthony Miller I think that Talib will be on Robinson all night so that should open up things for Miller. Mitch and Miller have a nice thing going lately so I can see Trubisky feeding the rookie tonight.
Sit:
Jared Goff history tells the story for this talented but soft QB. He just can’t handle temperatures below 40 degrees.
Todd Gurley I know he carried you this far but unless your league rewards you for fumbles I would stay far away.
Brandin Cooks this is tied to Goff. If Goff can’t do anything Cooks will be just a blip on the radar.
The Rams:
Offense: They have a very potent offense with some big time play makers, but that is playing against teams all season that are no where near the level as this Bears Defense. Traveling across the country to play a top defense in the freezing cold is just a bad formula for the Rams. Mack and Hicks are going to make their night a living hell.
Defense: People think this Rams D is something special but other than Donald is there anyone that really scares you? Talib is a nice corner but he’s been hurt so who knows how he’ll play. Suh has always been overrated. I can’t even think of another player they have. Not impressed and certainly not worried.
Da Bears:
Offense: Mitch is back. We have our leader back and we are pretty healthy other than Kyle Long still being out. That is not ideal for blocking Donald but I think Nagy and Hiestand will come up with a plan to keep him contained. Cohen, Miller and even Howard Jordan should have decent nights.
Defense: I think the Bears defense was a little embarrassed with their effort vs the Giants last week and are salivating for a chance to prove themselves again in front of a National audience against a top team in the NFL. Look for the D to be flying around making plays. Mack, Hicks, and Jackson should be a lot of fun to watch tonight.
The Fans:
Bears Fans: I think we are going to be ready tonight. We traveled well to New York, but we just didn’t do enough. We need to prove it tonight. Use our energy to fuel the Bears effort. Even if you’re not at the game yell and scream at the TV, they can feel that too, trust me.
Rams Fans: LOL. Do they even have any real fans? Do the fans they have all live in St. Louis? I don’t think there has ever been a bigger mismatch of fandoms in the history of the NFL. What a joke.
Fun Fact: It is said that the LA area is one huge earthquake away from major chunks of California to fall into the ocean. Good luck!
Game Prediction:
Bears 24
Rams 14
Coming Up Next Week: The pathetic Green Bay Packers come into Soldiers Field to take a beating and put the final nail in their coffin.
Bear Down!
